FAQ
What do I receive when I purchase a sewing pattern as a PDF eBook?
You’ll receive a fully illustrated, step-by-step instruction booklet in PDF format, along with the sewing pattern itself. Most patterns include both A4 and A0 formats. Depending on the design, multi-size and single-size options may be included. You can print the files at home or use a copy shop.
How can I use the sewing pattern?
All Schneidermeer patterns are protected by copyright and intended for personal use only. You may print and sew them for your own private projects as often as you like.
Sharing the files, uploading them elsewhere, or selling finished garments made from the pattern is not permitted. However, you’re welcome to gift or donate sewn items. Commercial licenses are not currently available.
Is the pattern available in English?
If an English version is included, this is indicated by a small flag in the product description and on the preview image. When you purchase the pattern, you’ll receive both the German and English versions. English versions also include the Letter format and, where applicable, measurements in inches.
Need a pattern translated into English?
If a pattern you’re interested in is only available in German, feel free to send a message to info@schneidermeer.de. If there’s enough interest, I’m happy to provide an English version in the future.
Where can I find my purchased files?
After your purchase, you’ll find the pattern in your customer account. Go to your order overview to download the files once payment has been received.
When will the download be available?
With PayPal, the download is available immediately. For bank transfers, the files are unlocked once the payment has been received – usually within 2 to 3 business days.
Why do I need an account – even for free patterns?
A customer account is required to access your download. Files are not sent by email – you’ll find them in your account under "Orders."
How long will my download be available?
To reduce server load, downloads are limited in time and number. Please download your files promptly and save them locally. If you run into problems, contact info@schneidermeer.de.
What do I need to use a PDF sewing pattern?
You’ll need a printer with A4 paper or access to a copy shop. A0 files can be printed at a professional print service. The free Adobe Acrobat Reader is recommended for viewing and printing your files correctly.
How do I print my pattern correctly?
Open the file with Adobe Acrobat Reader and select “Actual Size” or “100%” in the print settings. Use the control square on the pattern to check that the scale is accurate.
How do I choose the right size?
Don’t rely on standard clothing sizes. Instead, use your body measurements and refer to the sizing chart included with each pattern. Many patterns include nested sizes so you can easily grade between them if needed – for example, between bust and hip.
What’s the difference between a multi-size and a single-size pattern?
Multi-size patterns show all included sizes layered together, which makes blending between sizes easier. Single-size patterns contain only the size you selected. Both versions include seam allowances if indicated in the instructions.
Are the patterns suitable for beginners?
Yes – many designs are beginner-friendly. Instructions are clearly structured, fully illustrated, and walk you through each step. The recommended skill level is noted on every product page, so you can quickly find patterns that match your experience.
Which fabric should I use for a pattern?
Each pattern includes fabric recommendations – such as jersey, woven fabrics, or linen – along with approximate fabric requirements. If you’re unsure, the product description or preview image can help guide your choice.
Can I reuse the pattern?
Absolutely. You can print and use the pattern as often as you like for your personal sewing projects. Modifications and variations for private use are also fine. Commercial use or sharing of files is not permitted.
Can I order a printed version of the pattern?
For selected patterns, you can add an A0 printout to your order as an optional extra. This is selected directly on the product page. A0 prints are folded and sent by post. The download files are included as usual. Please note: it’s not possible to purchase the print separately at a later time.
How long does shipping take for A0 prints?
If you’ve added an A0 print to your order, it will be folded and shipped by post within 2 to 6 business days. The digital files remain available for download regardless of shipping.
How do I open a ZIP file?
On most computers, a double-click is all you need. Windows and macOS include built-in tools for unzipping. On mobile devices, free apps such as iZip (iOS) or AndroZip (Android) can help you open the files.
How do I open the PDF files?
Use Adobe Acrobat Reader for the best results. It ensures the pattern is displayed correctly and printed at the right scale.
I can’t log in – what should I do?
Click “Forgot password?” in the login area. You’ll receive an email with instructions to reset your password.
Why do I need to waive my right of withdrawal?
Because digital downloads are available immediately after purchase, your right of withdrawal expires once the download is unlocked. This is in accordance with European consumer protection law.
I entered the wrong email address – what now?
If you can still log in, you can correct your email address in your customer account. Otherwise, send a message to info@schneidermeer.de with your order details. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
I can’t download my pattern – what should I do?
